Mother's Day Card

Hi folks,

Ian here, from A Newbie Crafter.  Today, I have a Mother's Day card for you all.  It may or may not be sitting in my craft room still.  Full disclosure - I have already told my mom it was late so she knows and understands.  :)  I used Dream Pop papers to make this and LOVE it.  I also used a pop-dot on the "Mom" stamp.  I made it into a ribbon.  I thought it was cute.

Here are some photos to show you what I did.

I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day!  Next year I will hopefully be able to spend it with my mom after 5 years of not being able to.

Father's Day Card

Hi folks,

Today, I have a Father's Day card.  I thought the superhero-themed papers would pair well with this card and I was pleased with the turnout.  I hope you like it or it inspires you to create your own Father's Day card for that special guy in your life.

Here are the pictures!

Although a little early, Happy Father's Day to all the Dad's and Mom's that fill in as Dad out there!

End of the Year/Goodbye Card Series 13 of 13

Hi everyone!

Today, I have another end of the year/goodbye card for one of my RAs.  I'll be posting one card a day on here to show all 13 cards.

I wanted to give my RAs something as a going away gift.  I made a card for each one of them and wrote a small note to each of them.  I hope they all enjoy them.

Here's the thirteenth and last card in the installment.  I discovered and fell in love with Your Next Stamp stamps.  They have a plethora of cute images and I want them all.  Seriously.  Anyway, here are the pictures.  I chose Rock Star Fhinn, for my RA Nathaniel.  Nathaniel was in his 2nd year as a RA and both years was supervised by me.  I had a lot of fun with Nathaniel and it was great getting to know him in his 1x1 meetings with me.  A natural competitor, I was able to learn more about him than a chair-flipping RA (long story).

I will be honest, I did not write down any of the Copic markers that I used.  This was my first time using them, and as you can tell, I need to take a class.  Here's hoping I can take one this summer!  I also used a sentiment from one of the Stamp of the Months and the Dotty for You paper pack, both from Close To My Heart.

Here's the twelfth card in the installment.  I discovered and fell in love with Your Next Stamp stamps.  They have a plethora of cute images and I want them all.  Seriously.  Anyway, here are the pictures.  I chose Ellie Loves Walking Her Dog, for my RA Mikayla.  Mikayla was in her first year as a RA.  She is a funny funny person and it was nice being able to mentor her throughout the year to shape her into a good RA.

End of the Year/Goodbye Card Series 7 of 13

Hi everyone!

Today, I have another end of the year/goodbye card for one of my RAs.  I'll be posting one card a day on here to show all 13 cards.

I wanted to give my RAs something as a going away gift.  I made a card for each one of them and wrote a small note to each of them.  I hope they all enjoy them.

Here's the seventh card in the installment.  I discovered and fell in love with Your Next Stamp stamps.  They have a plethora of cute images and I want them all.  Seriously.  Anyway, here are the pictures.  I chose Tea Time Fhiona, for my RA Amanda.  Amanda was also in her 2nd year as a RA.  Last year when I purchased a kitten from the local humane society, Amanda was very helpful in giving me tips and suggestions for being a cat owner.  She also was able to run to the store for me and get him cat food when I was on duty.  Amanda left the position at the end of this year and will finish out her last year as just a student.  I'm sure she will love having a little less on her plate in her last year.

End of the Year/Goodbye Card Series 6 of 13

Hi everyone!

Today, I have another end of the year/goodbye card for one of my RAs.  I'll be posting one card a day on here to show all 13 cards.

I wanted to give my RAs something as a going away gift.  I made a card for each one of them and wrote a small note to each of them.  I hope they all enjoy them.

Here's the sixth card in the installment.  I discovered and fell in love with Your Next Stamp stamps.  They have a plethora of cute images and I want them all.  Seriously.  Anyway, here are the pictures.  I chose Teacher Fhiona, for my RA Katie.  Katie was in her 2nd year on staff, but first being supervised by me.  She also lived in my house this year.  We would often joke around that one of her residents and I always happened to do our laundry at the same time (there was only one washer and dryer) and that resident often became annoyed that she couldn't do her laundry because I was using the machine.

End of the Year/Goodbye Card Series 2 of 13

Hey there,

Today, I have another end of the year/goodbye card for one of my RAs.  I'll be posting one card a day on here to show all 13 cards.  You probably noticed that I didn't post one on Saturday or Sunday.  Whoops!  I was a little tired from the end of the year closeouts.

Oh, a little bit of an update before I show the next card.  This past Wednesday, I played phone tag with someone and once we were able to connect, I was offered and verbally accepted a position back in Wisconsin.  I am so excited to get back to my home state to be closer to friends and family.  So excited!  I will be leaving in a little over a month.

Anyway, back to the goodbye card.  I wanted to give my RAs something as a going away gift.  I made a card for each one of them and wrote a small note to each of them.  I hope they all enjoy them.

Here's the second card in the installment.  I discovered and fell in love with Your Next Stamp stamps.  They have a plethora of cute images and I want them all.  Seriously.  Anyway, here are the pictures.  I chose Ellie Loves Music, for my RA Genevieve.  Genevieve was a new RA in January and it was fun watching and helping her grow in the RA position.  I think she learned a lot in her short time on staff, and she will be back next year as well.

End of the Year/Goodbye Card Series 1 of 13

Hi folks,

Today, I have an end of the year/goodbye card for one of my RAs.  I'll be posting one card a day on here to show all 13 cards.  You may or may not know this, but I am an Area Coordinator (Residence Hall Director) at a small private college in New York.  We are on a 3-year "contract", and this marks my 3rd year in the position.  I am officially done June 30, but could potentially leave earlier, depending if I have a job yet.  No bites yet, so time will tell.

Anyway, I wanted to give my RAs something as a going away gift.  I made a card for each one of them and wrote a small note to each of them.  I hope they all enjoy them.

Here's the first card in the installment.  I discovered and fell in love with Your Next Stamp stamps.  They have a plethora of cute images and I want them all.  Seriously.  Anyway, here are the pictures.  I chose Ethan out on the Pond, for my RA Mathew.  When I saw this image, I immediately pictured him in this same scenario and started giggling to myself.  Mathew is a funny guy.

Don't be too harsh.  :)

You are Brave

Hi folks,

Today I am designing for She's a Sassy Lady, with a simple card for you featuring Gina K. Designs stamp set.  This card was a quick one that can be for anyone that is having a hard time or just needs a little encouragement.

For this card, I took a A2 size and cut a piece of black card stock at 4 1/8" by 5 1/4".  The next thing I did was cut a piece of red card stock at 4"x 5 1/8".  I added some faux stitching with a white gel pen and adhered the banner to the red card stock.  I then took pop dots and adhered the sentiment above the banner.

I think it turned out well!  I hope you all enjoy it!

Hi folks,

Today I am featured over on Cricut is Close To My Heart, with a simple card for you featuring the Close to My Heart April Stamp of the Month.  This card was another quick one that can be for anyone that's looking forward to the summer (it's right around the corner).

For this card, I took a A2 size and cut a piece of card stock at 4 1/8" by 5 1/4" from the Dotty for You pack.  The next thing I did was cut a piece of Dotty for You card stock at 4"x 5 1/8".  I added some Liquid Pearls to the front.  The sun was stamped in Honey and Goldrush.  The sentiment was stamped in Holiday Red.  I think it turned out nice.

Gift Card Holder

Hi folks!

Long time no post!  Eek!  I am designing for The Bugbytes today and have a very easy gift card holder for those last minute gift ideas.  Everyone loves gift cards, at least everyone I know does.  Why give them a gift card with the cardboard it comes attached to when you can dress it up?  This is the perfect way to get snazzy with a gift card!  Each year, we have Resident Assistant Appreciation Day.  At my current institution, each Area Coordinator (RA Supervisor) does something special for their own staff.  I decided to give each staff member a $10 gift card (something small, but does the trick) to thank them for all they do for us in Res Life.

I took an 8.5"x11" piece of paper and trimmed it down to 8.5"x10".  I then cut the paper at 4.25"x10". This will make 2 gift card holders when you use both pieces.  I then scored each piece of paper at 3", 4", 5", and 8".  I rounded the corners of each gift card holder before cutting and adhering the second layer.

For the extra pieces on the inside, I cut them at 4"x2.75", 4"x.75, 4"x.75, 4"x2.75" and 4"x1.75".  For the extra pieces on the outside, I cut them at 4"x2.75", 4"x2.75" and 4"x1.75".  For the pieces on the end (4"x2.75" and 4"x1.75"), I also rounded those corners and adhered all pieces to their respective places.  On the outside of the holder there will be two pieces that don't have a 2nd layer on them.  You will glue those pieces together.  I used Scor-Tape because I needed a strong grip on it to keep it together.  Once all pieces were assembled, I cut a thin strip off the two 4"x1" pieces I glued together so that I could stick the gift card in there.

If you use a solid piece of paper you can also jazz it up with a personal message.  On this, I used the Stitched Together stamp from Close To My Heart.

Once you have everything folded up, take some ribbon and wrap it around the holder (to keep it shut).  You could also use some Hook and Loop dots (similar to velcro) to keep it shut.  Voila!  A snazzy gift card holder!  I did not make a video - but hopefully this summer I can make one to show you.  I saw this idea from Gina K. and knew I wanted to do it for my next project!

Happy Easter!

Hi folks,

Today over at Exploring Cricut, we were to make a card, layout, or papercrafting project using an Easter theme.  I decided to make another door decoration for my apartment and I think it turned out really cute!  Have a look!

I used Create a Critter 2 (I just love that cartridge!).  I cut the shadow at 10.5" and everything else was cut the same.  The Happy Easter was cut at 6.5".  I used regular cardstock from my stash, and some of the Dotty for You paper I had left over from Close To My Heart.  I hung it up yesterday and it looks great!  I used some bakers twine to hang it which came in handy!  :)

Punch Storage

Hi folks,

Today I'm over at She's A Sassy Lady, showing you how to upcycle something you may not need anymore!  Recently I purchased 3 large stamp organizers from Close To My Heart.  Since I had been storing my stamps in the smaller ones I realized I didn't need them anymore so I wanted to find a way to upcycle them.  I realized that I could fit 2 large punches from Martha Stewart in them so I decided to label the organizer so I knew.  I used a plain grey cardstock cut at 3" and then used Art Philosophy for the letters.  I chose the set with the circles in them so that it added an extra flair.  Since the letters would not fit side by side, I had to off-set them a bit to make sure everything fit on one side.  Now, what can you upcycle?

Wedding Card

Hi folks,

I am designing for Cricut is Close To My Heart today.  Today I have a wedding card for a coworker that got married a little over a year ago.  I know what you are thinking...man you are LATE!  Well, this weekend she had her wedding reception so I was able to order something for her and her husband off their registry that shipped directly to them and made them this card for the reception.  I used Art Philosophy to make the base and subsequent layers of the card.  One thing I noticed was that the blue and yellow layers did not overlay onto the card as I thought they would.  I had to drastically reduce their size to have it fit - and it didn't even fit perfectly.  :(

I used the card on page 48.  I also used the Pemberley paper pack to make the card.  On the inside of the flower I used a scalloped circle punch and stamped the "best day ever" stamp on to that.  That stamp is from CC1020 It's Your Day stamp set.  I cut it out and pop dotted the scalloped circle onto the card.  The card was cut out at 5.5" so it was a regular A2 sized card.

Thanks for stopping by!
