Now, onto my project. For this card I used the Art Philosophy Cartridge and Stand and Salute Cartridge by Cricut. The card base was cut at 5" and the second layer was cut at 4.5" from the Art Philosophy Cartridge and the hat was cut from Stand and Salute at 3". I layered everything together and at the end added the Liquid Pearls to give it a little pop. I stamped a sentiment on the inside "Let freedom ring". I was really pleased with how it turned out. I hope you like it as much as I do.
Here are some pictures of the card:
I also created a video on the making of the card. If you have time now, I would love for you to watch it! If you would rather continue on through the hop and come back, that would be great too! Here's the video:
Giveaway Time!!
I'm also having a giveaway today, if I reach 125 followers. The giveaway is a set of Cri-Kits gel pens for the Cricut. These are a $47.99 value! The one thing I should mention is that on the Neon plastic box, one of the tabs on the side did snap off, they still stay in the container, but you will notice that one of the flaps is missing from the clear plastic case. The pens are all in tact. :)
Here are the rules for the giveaway:
1.) You must be a follower of my blog
2.) Tell me below what your favorite memory is from Independence Day growing up. Please also leave a way for me to contact you.
The winner will be announced via Random.org. The contest ends July 7, 2012 at 12:00 noon Eastern Time Zone. I will then contact the individual to let them know they won and get a shipping address. The pens will be mailed the week of July 9, 2012.
Thanks so much for stopping by to check out my card! I hope you and your family have a great Independence Day and stay cool. It's hot out there!!

What a fun and festive 4th card!! I love the awesome shape and the liquid pearls are an fabulous touch!! I'm a new follower and my favorite 4th memories would be the summers when I was young, we camped every Fourth of July and it was usually on a lake. My sister and I were excited to get to stay up late to watch the fireworks over the water :)

Thank you so much, Lisa! I'm so glad you loved it. :) What a fun memory as well. I grew up on a lake and we would always watch the fireworks by a family friend's place in town on the river. Loved seeing the reflection of the fireworks on the water. :)

ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Lee-Ann! :) Glad you liked it!
DeleteLove the dimension of your card, Ian, and all the stars! What an amazing giveaway! My most memorable Fourth of July is basically every year going to the lake in town and watching the fireworks. Our town, which is very small, puts on quite a display and attracts many people from all over. Happy Fourth of July, Ian!
ReplyDeletesherri_braun@hotmail.com
Thank you, Sherri! What a great memory to have for the 4th. :)
DeleteI totally agree with Lisa that the liquid pearls add a great touch! My favorite 4th memories are when my dad and I used to go to Old Forge, NY for fireworks. We would drive there early in the morning, walk around town a bit, then steak out the best spot on the lake for the fireworks. We would sit and play cards or other games to pass the time. It was always a great time :)

DeleteGreat blog Ian, just started following.
ReplyDeleteFamily celebrating & being together, for July
4th has always been the highlight in my
childhood memories, my birthday is the 7th
which made it seem like it was always a celebration
for ME! heehee.
Today's your birthday! Happy Birthday!!!! I hope you are enjoying your day so far. :) Gotta love celebrating the fourth with your family.
DeleteGreat card, tfs the video!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Treva! Glad you liked it. :)
DeleteLove the little touches on your card. For me the best memory of the 4th of july was a couple years ago. I had some friends over for a cookout, and I could tell they were all up to something because they kept texting each other and kept trying to make me move where I was sitting. finally I found out what was up. My best friend who had been away on deployment came up behind me and gave me a big hug. He was home on his 2 weeks of R&R and the first place he went was my house to give me a big hug. I'll never forget that 4th of July.

Aww, thanks, Beth! What an awesome surprise to have on the 4th! Wow! I bet that was quite memorable. Thank you for sharing that with me. :)
DeleteOh my gosh I haven't thought of this in years.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a child we would drive 45 minutes to Fort Vancouver in Washington State. We would take our motor home and stay all day. We made it an all day celebration with BBQ and games like horse shoes. Hundreds of other people did it too. The firework show at the end was known as the largest one west of the Mississippi. It was beautiful. Afterwards it would seriously take us 3-4 hours to get home.
Thanks for the memory boost.
My parents are both gone now and the happy memories are a comfort.

DeleteGreat card. Love the simplicity of it. When I was growing up we always had a family reunion on the 4th. It was great getting together with the families, eating, playing and after dark the gathering out front with the banjos, guitars and fiddle and stomping and singing. Man those were great times!! Hope you have an awesome and safe 4th!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sharon! Family reunions on the 4th must be so much fun! I love your description and sounds like everyone had a great time! :) Wish I could have joined you!

Thanks, Scrap! I'm sure you'll do something fun for your giveaway. :) I love your memory! I was in the parade growing up too so that's always a fun memory to have. Too bad you didn't win the Miss America though. :( I would have voted for you!
DeleteAWESOME card Ian!!!!!! You totally rock the themed cards :-)
ReplyDelete** One of my favorite memories (although not from childhood) of the 4th of July was when my FIL was determined to grill even though it was raining and accidentally lit himself on fire with the charcoal grill! Then, Hubby's uncle thought it was a good idea to get out the garden hose (while it's pouring down rain) to put the fire out. They did have one too many alcoholic drinks that day.. but it sure was something we'll NEVER forget! Lol!
Have a safe & happy 4th!!!!
~ Hugs ~

Deletehmm favorite memory is watching the fireworks with the kids when they were little (more important to me than the ones when we were growing up)....they LOVED fireworks and we would all lay on a blanket together and OOOOOH and AHHHHH together...
ReplyDeleteMiss you Much! Carrie
Love this memory, Carrie. I know I already mentioned this to you but this would probably be my favorite memory if I was a parent too. :)
DeleteAwesom Card! I like your shaped card and the dots add. My favorite memory: We would always cook out, eat, play and then go to the beach and look at the fire works. It was always packed on the beach in Gulfport, MS each year and it made it extra fun when we saw friends.. TFS AJ~
